Gynecomastia Vancouver
Gynecomastia is a very common problem as between 50-65% of middle aged and older men will experience it. There are basically two different surgeries that can alleviate the problem.
The first and much more common procedure is to remove the tissue with a modified liposuction technique. This is performed through a small slit located beneath and lateral to the breast. In order to prevent the extra skin from being floppy, a special technique is used to elevate the tissues around the breast so that the skin redrapes smoothly.
The second technique is used if the breast tissue is too firm to be removed by the first technique. This involves making an incision around the areola, excising the breast tissue, and then elevating the surrounding tissues.
After surgery, patients wear a vest for the first three weeks (except for showering etc..). Dr Brown will provide you with instructions about returning to the gym depending on the technique used. Most patients can return to work in 1-2 weeks, again depending on the technique used.
